Lee County saw another upswing in residential and commercial permit activity last year, but experts question how long the trend will last.
In 2015, the county issued 1,202 single-family permits in the unincorporated area, outside of city limits, according to a report by Lee County Community Development. That was an increase of 21 percent over 2014.
Some of the more active homebuilders in Lee County last year included Lennar, Pulte/Centex and Taylor Morrison.
The county saw an even bigger jump in multifamily permits last year. Contractors pulled 2,094 of them in 2015, up 216 percent from a year ago, in part reflecting a surge in apartment construction.
